Default earrings

I am wondering what is the earring policy at your daycare. My daughter sometimes twirls her earrings and the teacher and management fear that it is a safety risk and have asked me to remove her earrings. I have fought them on this point for a few months as she does't tug at them, just when she is listening she twirls them. My main concern is that she has had her earrings on for about one year and I am afraid that the holes may close if they remove them during the week. She wears the safest baby earrings with screws on the back.

What is the earring policy at your daycare? Do all daycares ask that the earrings be removed?

edited to specify my daughter's age: 21 months

Avery does not attend daycare but I would not remove them... what a pain it would be for you to remove them in the morning and try to put them back in of the evenings...

Can ask you to do that really? If you remove them and forget to put them back, I'm wondering how long it would take for them to close?

Hope there is a way you can work it out

If she has had them in for a year then it would be fine for you to take them out in the mornings and put them back in her ears in the evenings but that would be a TOTAL pain in the A$$!!! I dont know what would happen if you left them out M-F and then put them in for the weekend. I would try to fight this. I dont know how far you would wanna go (ie:taking her out of the center) but that is crazy. I have worked in several Child Care Centers and never once has that been a policy. I could see if she was actually getting them out then they could pose a problem but if she is just twirling them then they just need to chill

I fought this in a non-confrontational way, a first for me probably. I told them that THEY may remove them as long as THEY put them back in at the end of the day. I guess they've decided it is too much work as she is always wearing her earrings when we go pick her up, quelle surprise!

I agree that it is a completely idiotic rule!
