Your Baby's Development This Week
The baby is now about 15" long and just over 2 pounds most likely, although all babies are in a rapid growth spurt from now until birth, their growth rate will begin to reflect their individuality.
As this week marks the end of the second trimester, the baby's chances of survival if born at this time are good, around 85%, although serious complications may still occur.

Sensory development is becoming sharper, with sounds not only being received by baby but now recognized as well, especially the voices of you and your partner, so be sure to take advantage and read and sing to the little one and prepare for all the story and music time to come! The sounds are muffled much like when you swim underwater and hear voices around you.
The baby's eyes are opening even wider and can now distinguish between darkness and light. The retinas have formed.
The baby also now has a regular sleep schedule, which may have been influenced by yours, but could be distinctly his or her own.
One bothersome activity: hiccupping. While it may drive you crazy at times, it doesn't seem to bother baby much. It's connected to the lung maturity and more swallowing/breathing activity.
Baby's sense of taste is also becoming more sensitive and baby will react to strong tastes from spicier foods you eat, which flavor the amniotic fluid.
Pregnancy Symptoms You May Feel During Week 27
How you are feeling now may be influencing your sex life fairly directly. Feeling sexy and voluptuous and your sex drive may be up. Feeling dowdy, fat and uncomfortable? You might rather cuddle up with a pizza than your sweetie. There is a whole range of normal when it comes to sexual appetite during pregnancy, and making things even more complicated is the reaction of your partner. Some men find themselves quite sexually attracted to their partner during pregnancy. Others might be freaking out over the responsibilities to come, fears over the changes in your body or life and you might find yourselves with drastically different needs. Things are likely to continue to be different and requiring adjustments after baby’s arrival so keep talking and compromising and working on ways to stay close.
Visit With the Obstetrician
Speaking of sex, there are occasionally medical/physical reasons why some types of sexual activities must be curtailed later in pregnancy. Placental issues, concerns over preterm labor and unexplained bleeding are the most common. If your doctor says no sex, be sure not to get too embarrassed to find out exactly what that means. Does it mean no orgasm, no vaginal penetration by penis only or anything, etc. Ask very detailed questions so you know exactly what is and isn’t allowed and why.
Preparing for Baby
That big day looms closer and as you imagine leaving the hospital as a bigger family, remember you’ll need a baby carseat in order to drive away. Now is the time to shop around for your choices. Talk to other parents about what they used and why they did and didn’t like their carseat. Look up information on various makes and models to see what the important features are. Find out what complaints are most common on different types. Don’t just go for what looks easy or attractive. Find out what ones seem to have the best reviews and records and match the needs of your family and vehicle. While one carseat might be great in someone’s SUV, you might find it cumbersome in your economy car.
Pregnancy Lifestyle
Chores are not likely to disappear simply because you can’t see your toes anymore. So some accomodations are likely necessary. Some chores you must neglect entirely. Not changing the kitty litter. No heavy lifting or things that require climbing/balancing. For instance, not the time to stand on chairs and vacuum the drapes. You should probably be avoiding using any strong chemical cleaners, too. Get your partner to help out, or consider hiring someone for the jobs you can no longer do.

I am 27 weeks pregnant and I feel like cleaning everything, but my energy level is goin down. Not the babies he/she is moving all the time. My only downfall HEARTBURN!!

Hi im 27 weeks and a couple days im feeling pretty tired most of the time and my feet are starting to swell! I am having a baby boy and am soo excited as well as being my first!

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and feeling very tired, lazy, and depressed. Haven't had mood swings until the last 2 weeks. I cry about everything and am burning up all of the time.

I hated being pregnant but it is better now that his little flips and hiccups amuse me. We have 3yr old girl and are SO excited for a little boy.
Still, being preggos takes way WAY too long

I Am 27 weeks & a few days along I feel more lazy then ever I have to make myself do things rather then wanting to do them.I am very tired at this point in my pregnacy.
