I have a pretty light cycle lasting 3-4 days every month getting it every month between the 20th and 23rd. my ovulation day was 11/2 having had sex 10/31 and 11/1 and again on 11/3. not quite 3 days later i experienced breast tenderness which was odd for me to get that so soon but i shrugged it off. then on the 16th i got some pinkish brown discharge when i wiped thinking it was the start of af coming early, realizing that nite it was not really there anymore. that night i had some light cramping just enuf to keep me awake, nothing extreme, then the next day at night i got some clots and had to change my tampon 3 times in less than an hr, although it was never filling a tampon at any given time. that stopped and now i have been "bleeding" lightly since the 18th, (just a dark red-brown discharge when i wipe) this is going on a total of 5 days altogether. i don't know if this is a very odd cycle for me or if its maybe implantation? has anyone else experienced this as well? please help!

We're just recently off bc and trying to conceive. i'm concerned about my short menstual cycle. i seem to be ovulating (+ test) on day 10, but getting my next period on day 19. that doesn't seem to be enough time for implantation to occur before my period even if we were to score in the fertilization. anyone have any knowledge on this? i'd appreciate it:) thx

Ovulation predictors are not very sensitive, so when you use them and get a negative result, there's still a good chance that you did ovulate and it wasn't sensitive enough to catch it. the best and cheapest way to figure out when you ovulate is to chart your bbt and to check your cervix. i would say check your cervical mucus, but some of us are too dry for that. the cervix is firm, like the tip of your nose, most of the cycle, but it softens when you ovulate. it also lowers at the same time. once it rises and firms up again, ovulation has already passed. there's still a small chance of getting pregnant for the next 24 hours or so, but you generally want to have sex before the softening so the sperm has time to reach the egg before it disintegrates. the beauty of checking the cervix is you can do it as many times as you'd like throughout the day. for those whose cycles are confusing, charting bbt, cervical mucus, and cervical position and firmness will help you understand what's happening at least a little better. unless you produce high enough amounts of lh, ovulation predictors will just waste your money. charting bbt will also help you figure out whether or not you're pregnant. progesterone declines rapidly 24 to 48 hours before the next period. the progesterone was what was responsible for the rise in temperature after ovulation, so when you see the sudden drop on your bbt chart, you know your period is coming. if you know your period well from at least a few months of charting, and you don't see the drop in temperature on the day you would expect to see it, there's a good chance you're pregnant. still get a pregnancy test, of course, but i wouldn't bother to test if i do see my temperature drop. it would be a waste of a test to prove i'm not pregnant. progesterone continues to rise throughout pregnancy. so it wouldn't make sense for your temperature to fall without a drop in progesterone. hope that all made sense. if you want to get pregnant, get your men into boxers, have sex everyday (or let him masturbate everyday), but you must have sex everyday starting about 6 days prior to ovulation. continue to lie down on your back after sex with a pillow under your butt to let gravity help the sperm get to the egg. it has been shown to increase chances of getting pregnant. if you want to gender sway for a girl, stop having sex 2 to 3 days before ovulation, and if you want to gender sway for a boy, only start having sex 1 or 2 days before ovulation. what we currently know is that xy (male) sperm can live for 1 to 3 days and xx (female) sperm can live for 3 to 6 days. gender swaying does not guarantee a particular gender, but it helps increase the chances. the ph of your body affects the outcome as well. xy sperm favors (swims faster and lives longer in) alkalinity, but xx sperm favors acidity. @aniky, even with a 28 day cycle, i can only guess that you ovulate on cd14. i could be wrong. you would have had to chart to know for sure. assuming you do ovulate on cd 14 though, either of these men could be the father since intercourse would have occurred within 3 days of ovulation. again, that's based on my assumption being correct. i suggest a paternity test when the baby is born (preferably a cheek swab).

I had my last period on march 6th. i used the ovulation predictor kit for several days last week and on saturday i finally saw a positive result for the lh surge. the directions said you should ovulate within 24-36 hours. my hubby and i tried for next two days, hoping i will end up pregnant. it's been about 3 days since i *might* have conceived and i am feeling mild twinges of "cramping" in my abdomen. from what i've read, implantation takes about 5-6 days from ovulation. not sure what to think.

Katerina- do look up luteal phase defect. this is a condition where the time between ovulation is too short, not allowing your body time for the egg to attach in time. normal people would have their period 12-14 days after ovulation, anything lower than 10ays is an indication ofluteal phase defect. it is a form of infertility, but the easiest to fix. normally vitamin b6 and b12 are recommended buy the dr and progesterone cream the week after ovulation. i hope that helps? my period was coming 6 days after ovulation and after taking b6 and b12 for three months i am now up to 11 days. fingers crossed.

I'm 29 and i had been on bc for 10 years up until almost 2 months ago now. 31 days after being off the pill i got my first period(fertility runs in my familiy)my husband and i decided we would start to try, so my last period started on oct.15 we ttc between oct.28 and nov.2, it is now nov. 15 and still no period but i have tested 2 other times for pregnancy with 2 negatives. is it possible any possible egg has not implanted yet? i have been having cramping today but no spotting or full out period yet. i know i could still have it tomorrow, but i was just wondering if anyone else's cycle was this long and if they had to wait this long to find out if they were prego or not.

Boy, it sounds like it's about impossible to really detect pregnancy before you're able to confirm it with a pregnancy test. i've found that charting has helped me, however. i had my son a year ago and we're trying again. if i take my temp each morning before i get out of bed, i can usually detect the thermal shift just after i ovulate. i also have a thermal dip for the two days that i do ovulate. my husband and i have intercourse for 5 days (each day) prior to ovulation. charting may really help if you're trying!

I went to the gyno since we and my boyfriend has been having unprotected sex for over a year and i havent gotten pregnant.and i had an internal ultrasound down and my right overie was releaseing and egg at the moment(what perfect timeing)the gyno said my egg was 3 cm and i know they are usually 1-2 cm could it possibly be fertile?

I am a mother of 4 and have had a miscarriage, so i feel i know the signs and the times pretty well. i got on here after a search to help a friend and confirm some things i had already known, but may have forgotten. i just have to say that some of the people commenting on here are too stupid to have kids! if it turns out they are pregnant, they should give the baby to a loving family before it is stupid too! the future of the world depends on it!

If you want to get pregnant its traumatic hoping af doesnt come and if you aren't willing, you never wished af right here, right now... we decided on parenthood 2 months ago and i planned for a may end june baby... hopefully, it should happen now that i am around 6 weeks along. having said that, what i mean by planning is indeed that. since i am 31, i had to cut down on alcohol, go cold turkey and eat healthy. also having sex like 9,10,11,12 etc.. will have little impact.. we always believed in doing it the normal way and not look desperate. positive frame of mind, enjoying it like always helped me immensely. i checked hpt on my 35th day..patiently waited. i wanted no false negative. also..the symptoms for me have been like pms... but there is something different.. apart from sore breasts, i found the shooting 10 minuter headaches awful, sudden twitch in your abdomen, constant dull back pain... and fatigue..after lunch my eyes would burn n beg to sleep.. pms stomach bloat happens we all know, but this bloat seems different. it stays, and esp waist part above your hip starts to show up suddenly.. and ya i am eating like never before...good luck :)

I want to encourage everyone here not to stress too much about not getting pregnant. my sister had tried for five years, she was already 35, and she'd already given up hope and was looking into adopting.. and voila! pregnant last year and pregnant this year!! two nephews all of a sudden, the only grandchildren in the family... no one expected it but i guess it's true when they say they come when you've relaxed about it.

Spencer: it's called the cervix. orgasm contractions supposedly make a woman more likely to conceive (if she's fertile and ovulating, evidently!). in general good lubrication, good health in general, good sexual habits, make it more likely to happen, although that's not a rule, as we all know.

Kendra from texas: removing a iud can be a bit traumatic sometimes. you should give your body a time to adjust. ask your gyn :) i wonder why people don't consult their doctor/gyn more often for the kind of questions posted here...

Kristina from alabama: you should ask the gyn! ovulating 10 days before your period is weird enough. you should get a blood test done to see how your hormones are doing. maybe that's the reason why you don't get pregnant anymore. i talk from my own experience. low oestrogens= delayed or nonexisting ovulations=infertility
