Childrens Nightmares

Childrens Nightmares

Here is a perfect example of the power of the PRTC technique. Karen, a mom and substitute teacher in Riverside California has a ten-year-old daughter, Julie, who had been having the same nightmare for three years. In the dream, a black truck pulls up to the front door just as Julie is trying to lock the door. A man pulls her into the truck and takes her away. Julie would wake up frightened and would wind up sleeping on the floor of Karen’s and her husband’s bedroom every night.

Karen and her husband would leave Julie’s light on, leave her door open and their door open to no avail. Her counselors at school were not able to help. They were considering moving her bedroom because it was the closest one to the front door. Luckily, before they attempted that enormous task, Karen contacted me through my web site and I taught her the PRTC technique.

article continued below...

The nightmares had been going on for three years so I asked Karen what had been going on in her daughter’s life for the past three years? Were there any changes within her or within the family? It turns out that Karen has a three-year-old son with Cerebral Palsy who needs a lot of her time and attention. Julie was feeling left out and probably afraid that no one would notice if a big black truck came and took her away. That very night Karen climbed into bed with Julie and talked about the dream. Julie changed the dream by having the boy she likes at school be the one to whisk her away… to Hawaii no less! They giggled and cuddled and had a lot of fun. Karen also made sure to give Julie more attention and has eased up on forcing her to help out with her brother. She reported to me that the nightmares did indeed stop and that Julie would only come into her and her husband’s room every once in a while because she was lonely.

I recently contacted Karen to see how things were going. These were her words, "Julie achieved thirty days sleeping in her own bed. YAHOO!! They weren't consecutive days though. She slept in her bed about 6 out of 7 days. Some nights she would sleep in the top bunk of her brother's bunk bed and other nights she slept at a friend's house. We still talk every night before sleeping which helps her a lot. I never cut her off and I always trigger her into a fun dream - talking about Britney Spears or 98 degrees, etc. Talking about shopping trips will always lull her into blissful sleep. We so appreciate that life long helpful tip. Now we make every effort to pray or read something beautiful or talk about fun things at night." You go girlfriend!!

You too can have such positive results as Karen and Julie no matter what your child's age. Consistency is the key. With the PRTC technique your child will feel empowered and gain confidence. And you can be confident that your brave little soldier is marching into dreamland armed with a new and powerful skill. A skill to find solutions to problems, a skill to overcome adversity, a skill which will last a lifetime!
