Fly Well
By Gerry Watkins
Air travel can be hazardous to your health! We never know who's flying with us, nor what germs they may be bringing on board with them. Since the same air is circulated over and over throughout the trip, some precautions can assure you come out ahead of the germ warfare game.
1. Drink plenty of water while you're in the air. Avoid caffeine.
2. Wash hands frequently. We take along a small bottle of Purell Hand Sanitizer or a similar brand.

3. Rub it on your hands; it dries quickly and you don't have to go to the rest room to dry hands, where you come in contact with germs carried by other passengers.
4. Try to keep your hands away eyes, nose and mouth; they are entry-ways for germs.
5. Line the inside of your nostrils with Vaseline, Mentholatum or Vicks Vaporub. The Vaporub makes you smelly, but the vapors keep your sinuses from felling stuffy. These products capture the germs so they can't enter your system. Remove it from time to time with a Kleenex and re-treat as necessary on long trips. Discard the tissue.
6. Carry your own pillow. Other passengers use airline pillows, so they are usually filled with germs.
