Q&A: Drying Up Once Baby is Weaned from the Breast

Q&A: Drying Up Once Baby is Weaned from the Breast

Q I've been breastfeeding for 10 months and have weaned my baby to a cup with no problem. The problem I'm having is drying up. I haven't nursed for 2 1/2 weeks and my breasts are still full. Is there something that I can do to help dry up faster? Thank you so much.

A Drying up can take a bit of time. You may want to consider using frozen bags of peas to place on your breast to reduce the swelling. Even better is to place leaves of green cabbage in your bra to reduce the swelling. This procedure has been successfully used for centuries, and not only reduces swelling, it is much more comfortable than the bags of peas.

Good Luck,
Warmly,
Wendy
