Menstrual Cycle Day 6
0 CommentsWhat is happening internally?
By now the menstrual bleeding may have stopped, though some women may experience a longer bleeding phase. Because the estrogen levels are low, the hypothalamus sends releasing hormones to the pituitary gland, to begin releasing low levels of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). These hormones prompt the ovaries to begin producing one or two follicles. These follicles will surround the ovum (developing egg). The uterine lining has begun to rebuild.
Outward symptoms:
Basal body temperature is in the low range. Cervix is low and firm. Cervical fluid is dry, except for the remainder of the menstrual flow.
