Menstrual Cycle Day 21
0 CommentsWhat is happening internally?
The corpus luteum continues to release high amounts of progesterone to maintain the uterine lining. If conception occurred - the blastocyst finds a place in the thick uterine lining to implant. It burrows deep into the lining and grows at a rapid rate. Implantation signals the corpus luteum to stay alive and continue producing progesterone. Trace amounts of hCG are being released from the implanted fertilized egg.
Outward symptoms:
Basal body temperatures remain high above the coverline. Cervix is low, firm and closed. Cervical fluid is dry. You may experience bloating or water retention. As a result of implantation of the fertilized egg, you may experience mild cramping and/or a bit of spotting.
