4 CommentsWhat is happening internally?
The corpus luteum continues to release high amounts of progesterone to maintain the uterine lining, though if conception did not happen, the amount of progesterone being release begins to drop due to the corpus luteum dying. If conception did occur the zygote (fertilized egg) is increasing in size and growing every day. The amounts of hCG keeps increasing.
Outward symptoms:
Basal body temperatures remain high above the coverline, though if conception did not occur, they may begin to drop down. Cervix is low, firm and closed, though it may soften a bit and rotate up in preparation for menstruation or as a result of pregnancy. Cervical fluid is dry or it may become creamy or sticky. You may experience bloating or water retention. You may experience a headache. If conception occurred you may have to urinate frequently and may or may not experience food cravings/aversions. Fatigue is another early symptom of pregnancy you may feel.
