Carrie Underwood, country singer, and husband Mike Fisher, hockey player, welcomed son Isaiah Michael on February 27. The couple announced the news via social media complete with a photo of tiny hands and the text, "Tiny hands and tiny feet...God has blessed us with an amazing gift." The baby's gender was revealed on the Country Music Awards in November by cohost Brad Paisley. Underwood states, "We didn't really speak of it before, because we were both just like, 'Whatever. It's all good.' But we knew it was a boy."
Cate Blanchett and husband Andrew Upton adopted baby girl Edith Vivian Patricia. The Oscar-winning actress and her screenwriter husband live in Sydney, Australia, and already are raising three boys: Dashiell John, 13; Roman Robert, 10; Ignatius Martin, 7. Blanchett, 45, is in the new live action Cinderella, playing the evil stepmother.
Actress Liv Tyler and boyfriend Dave Gardner welcomed son Sailor Gene Gardner on February 11. This is the couple's first child together. Tyler, 45, already has a 10-year-old son, Milo, with British rocker Royston Langston and Gardner has a son with his ex-wife. Tyler and Gardner have been together since the beginning of 2014 after being introduced by mutual friend, Kate Moss. Baby Sailor was born 6 weeks premature and didn't leave the hospital until February 26. While the couple has yet to announce an engagement, there are reports of an engagement ring being donned by Tyler.
Zooey Deschanel and boyfriend Jacob Pechenik are expecting a baby and are engaged. Deschanel, star of The New Girl, and her film producer beau, have been reportedly dating since August 2014, and made their first outing together officially at the 2014 Emmy Awards.
Steve Howey, of Shameless, and Sarah Shahi, of Persons of Interest, gave birth to twins on March 1. Daughter Violet Moon and son Knox Blue are joined at home by brother William Wolf. Shahi is on maternity leave from her TV show, with her character temporarily written out of the show.
Hayden Panettiere and Wladimir Klitschko welcomed daughter Kaya Evdokia on December 9. Penettiere, 25, stars on Nashville, while her fiancé, 38, is a heavyweight boxer. Panettiere admits recovering from birth was not easy. She compared herself to an 80 year old when managing stairs after the baby arrived. She said she was trying to figure out which body changes are permanent and which are temporary. She said it's all, "a surreal experience."
Haylie Duff and fiancé Matt Rosenberg are expecting a baby girl together, and planning for her to be at the wedding. Duff enjoyed a celeb soaked baby shower with Marla Sokoloff, sister Hilary, and Beverly Mitchell. The attendees ate cupcakes, cake pops and pink donuts, and created floral crowns to wear in their hair. Duff is more focused on the upcoming birth than the upcoming wedding, however. "We still talk about things we want to do [for the wedding], but it's a big change with the baby coming. We're just trying to focus on one thing first and then we'll do it."
Beverly Mitchell, of 7th Heaven fame, and husband Michael Cameron welcomed a second child, son Hutton Michael Cameron, on January 28. The couple already has a daughter, Kenzie Lynn, who is 2 years old. Mitchell admits being nervous about having a son after experience with just a daughter. "Little boys pee on everything!" she said.
Chris O'Dowd, 35, and wife Dawn O'Porter, 36, gave birth to a son, their first child, on January 25. Son Art was featured in a funny twitter announcement by O'Dowd. In it O'Dowd introduces Art, "our gorgeous baby. Well, I'm pretty sure he's ours." The tweet featured the baby sporting Dad's beard and Mom's hair. O'Dowd starred in Bridesmaids, and St. Vincent, and has a children's book, Moone Boy, the Blunder Years, coming out in May. The couple wed in August 2012, and announced the pregnancy during O'Dowd's participation in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge this past August. He nominated his unborn baby to be next in the challenge, and mom-to-be O'Porter poured ice water on her tummy to complete the challenge.
