Health Tips For Pregnant Women


Only take drugs when absolutely necessary. Check with your doctor, pharmacist or midwife first.

You should stop immediately. If you continue, you are at a greater risk of having a premature, smaller or less healthy baby. Avoid passive smoking, too.

You should eat a healthy diet and try to include something from each of the main food groups: milk and milk products, meat and alternatives, fruit and vegetables, bread and cereals.

Regular gentle exercise such as swimming, yoga and walking will help keep you fit and prepare you for child-birth.

Work hazards:
Most workplaces are safe for pregnant women, but make sure you are not exposed to X-rays, toxic chemicals or other hazards.

Folic acid
You should continue to take a Folic Acid supplement for the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy. You can get it from the pharmacy and it is also present in green, leafy vegetables, breakfast cereals and bread.

Avoid cat litter and wear gloves when gardening because of the risk of the Toxoplasmosis parasite, which could harm your baby.
