Q My 6 1/2 month old daughter just got her first tooth. I am starting solids, but she still prefers being breastfed. I don't mind, but she wants to pinch or bite now. I have tried to firmly tell her not to do that, but it scares her to where she doesn't want to latch back on. Help!
Also, do you have any recommendations to increase breastmilk production. I am afraid to try some of the natural herbs due to allergic reactions to many natural cures.
A The best thing for biting is to do what it sounds like you are doing. Pull her off and say no. There really are no other good tricks at this age. Usually it is just a phase and not a permanent problem, so hang in there.
As far as increasing milk production, make sure you are drinking adequate fluids, and not losing weight too rapidly. I have allowed mom's to try a natural tea, called Mother's Milk Tea. It has fenugreek and other herbs, and is very safe.
