Pregnancy Week 7

Inside Pregnancy Week 7
Your baby’s development is incredibly rapid. Now every organ has begun to form. The hair and nipple follicles have started to grow, and the eyelids and tongue are forming as well. Parts of the baby’s body are a bit easier to distinguish as the trunk is less curled up in appearance, and now is straightening out more. The elbow is busy bending and flexing, but you’re still blissfully unaware of the jabs and pokes. Beneath the gums, baby’s tiny pearly whites are growing. The area where the biggest growth spurt is taking place? Baby’s brain, where so much is changing and taking place right now. The baby is approximately one inch long at the end of this week.
Symptoms You May Feel During Week 7
Morning sickness is usually truly underway at this point, not the odd occasional wave of queasiness, but full on sick. Morning sickness affects up to 75% of pregnant women, and the average length of this symptom is about six weeks. Besides small frequent meals, try to avoid lying down after a meal. Some say that the aroma of lemons will perk up the queasiest mommy, and many swear by salty potato chips in curbing nausea. Vitamin B6 can help, too. If your sickness is accompanied by violent vomiting that just doesn’t let up and you just can’t get it under control, talk to your doctor. Sometimes morning sickness goes beyond typical and into a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum. It’s just really a fancy name for severe morning sickness. If this is the case, your doctor will want to see you, possibly have medicine, or if need be, put you in the hospital for IV treatment and observation. As with anything in your pregnancy, you need to trust your own feelings about when something isn’t right, or you are concerned and talk to your doctor. It’s always better to find out it’s nothing, than to ignore something than could be a problem.
The other problem most likely to be plaguing mom to be this week? Breasts. They may have gone up to a full cup size by this week! They are likely quite tender, and swollen. The nipple is probably standing out more than normal, just more pronounced. All these changes are due to the two major hormones, estrogen and progesterone. Fat tissue is building up in the breast area, and the Montgomery tubercles, sweat glands on breasts, are visible now, and provide lubrication to the areola area. They are raised bumps.
Visit With the Obstetrician
Getting to know your physician during these visits might be difficult in the beginning, but don’t be shy. Try to bring a notepad and pen so you can write down anything you find out, have questions prepared ahead of time (you won’t remember!) and ask questions without reservation. Pregnancy isn’t something you will experience too many times in your life, and while the doctor has seen in all hundreds of times, it is special and important to you. Don’t let yourself feel rushed or intimidated in your appointments. Get the information you need and don’t feel badly for doing so. A well informed patient is a good patient! Have you started thinking about your birth plan yet? Yes it’s early, but the sooner you and your doctor have ironed out some major issues the better.
Preparing for Baby
One of the fun parts of preparing for the new baby is trying out new names, and finding just the right one for your new little bundle. Consider purchasing a couple good names books early on, borrowing others and having a little notebook to scribble down combinations, name meanings and so on. Write down suggestions friends and family members give, perhaps only to humor them, or because their suggestions are so hilarious you might want to look back someday at the notebook for some laughs. It’s never too early to start searching for the perfect name. It will be a fun keepsake and a good way to keep track of the good, and less than stellar, ideas you come up with along the way and to keep your final choices organized and all in one place.
Pregnancy Lifestyle
Living with early pregnancy symptoms can take a toll on not only the pregnant mom, but those who share her life. It’s not unusual due to all the fatigue, nausea, and pressure for mom to become, well cranky at times. It’s completely understandable. Growing a baby is no small feat, and those early weeks are some of the hardest. If you have decided to wait to tell friends and family about your pregnancy, you might be feeling cut off from some support. Consider finding a discussion board to chat with other women who are going through the same issues. Don’t expect too much of yourself, give yourself some slack, and try to have some pleasant time for yourself and with those you love. It’s a priority, and later it will be an absolute luxury!

I am 7 weeks pregnant and this will be my second child. i am considered a high risk case because of 2 miscarriages before this pregnancy. i received great news today that my levels were very high so im feeling more confident now! as far as symptoms, my "ta tas" are extremely sore and swollen! but im suprised to not have any nausea so far! im having an upset stomach all the time!! is this normal?! and as far as the fatigue, it is full blown! tired all the time!!
Week 7. this is my 1st pregnancy. very fatigue, especially this pass week and extreme lower back pain. i have to be cautious of what i eat, because it bloats me terribly after, where i look like i'm 27 weeks instead of 7, lol. water is the answer, lots of it and when bloated drink it hot and repeatedly. appetites been the same, but when i overeat or finish my plate, its misery. i do notice that every month i feel the same menstrual like symptoms but no cycle, i heard that's normal.
I feel nauseus all day if i don't eat something small every hours or so... rice cakes, fruit, sandwiches, crisps, skittles! when i do feel nauseus i don't feel like any food but once i've forced myself to eat something i immediately feel loads better! and i can't get enough of scrambled eggs on buttered toast sprinkled with worcestershire sauce! mmmmmm.
I am 7 weeks pregnant and i have been nauseated for a week straight! now that the nausea has gone away i have severe vaginal and anal itching and discomfort for about 3 days now with no relief. ive tried baking soda baths, cold compresses, anti itch cream....nothing! i even had to leave work early do to discomfort! dr. gave me prescription and monastat cream and still feel horrible!
I dont know about my pregnancy. my periods are 23 days late. my breasts are heavier and sensitive. all home based tests are giving negative.i am so stressed. i live alone and i always think about it unconsciously. i had a d & c earlier in sep 2012 after 7 weeks of pregnancy. i lost my 1st baby. now i want baby desperately. please guide me :((
I am about 7 weeks and nausea has set in on a hardcore level. i have super tender breasts, lower back pain, and i don't think my stomach will ever feel full again, haha. i spend most of my day peeing and sleeping now. but on the bright side, i know at the end of the day, my little booger is going to be so worth this misery. congrats mommies!
Omg!!! i gotta be honest i feel horrible this week. i have severe morning sickness & recently been released from the hospital. i'm like crazy hungry all the time without having an appetite. if that makes any sense. nausea is on & off all day i never know when i'm going 2 vomit. i'm also showing which is exciting ^_^ i'm also kinda gassy & feel bloated.my nipples are rubbing up against my bra which hurts alot. so shopping 4 new bras this week. ummm.... last but not least i have dull back pain in the lower part of my back. none the less i'm happy 2 be pregnant but wow the changes my body goes thru ^_^
Actually i dont know how many weeks i am. my last period was 17.10.12 and last week had a vaginal ultrasound and i heard my baby heart beat and he/she was 5-6mm. well my problem is that am already having a big belly and a big breast. also am not well, am always having problem with my stomach, like having acid rolling down, i cannot eat, nothing seems good, my dr prescribe me gaviscon for the heartburn, still its not improving my health. please help
Week 7. sometimes my boobs hurt, sometimes they don't. have been having cramps, feel like i am starving all the time no matter how much i eat. sensitive to smell and a little nausea.
Hi, i'm 7 weeks today and this is my second baby.so far this pregnancy is completely different then with my first.with my first i was sick as a dog for 5 months.so far with this one i generally feel fine. hard time sleeping at night just because of having to pee so much. sometimes i get sick at night, but i just eat something and i'm fine.and i'm more gassy with this baby.i have an ultrasound on monday . looking forward to that.
At 7 weeks, my 4th pregnancy and i can't remember ever feeling this terrible.i have already gained 10 pounds and feel like i'm about to pop! i must start a religious exercise routine and maintain it everyday. this is insane! my first two pregnancies i weighed 155 at delivery. i was a bit older with my third and weighed 188 at delivery but quickly dropped to 150 shortly after. i'm 170 pounds now, pee constantly around the clock, breats very sore, and always tired. i have 3 boys; 17 years old, 13 years old and 9 years old. i did not plan to have anymore children. lord help me!
I am also 7weeks and already have 3 boys, and my pregnancy symptoms are exactly the same, and some i have never felt before, hope they pass soon as i have no energy!and 3 little boys that require my constant attention, along with work where i can not bear to be right now!
Hi, i am 7 weeks pregnant with my second, i am servely bloated i feel like i cant eat because im so full, woke up this morning and my boos felt very heavy and sore. lots of nause have throwin up only once but sickness comes and goes all day. good luck to you all
I am at 7 weeks. i go for an ultra sound today. i have been nausious for the last two weeks. i haven't thrown up. i just drink more cold water sometimes with lemon. crackers and ginger ale do help a bit. i try to get a large portion of protein in my diet. hard boiled eggs, cheese sticks, and milk seem to be the easiest to get down. i haven't worked out in awhile and i am afraid i will put on the weight faster. the nauciousness unmotivates me to exercise. this is my first preg. these comments have inspired me to be happy that i am pregnant and i should be more excited about it. i have tender breasts and am very tired most of the time. i don't seem to be at my best. i am grouchy at times. i will miss tuna, sushi and deli meat. i am not sure how else to eat without those things. this has been a change in my lifestyle and i think i am having a hard time dealing with that right now. i hope and pray the experience gets better.
First time pregnant! the only major symptom this week is major major gas pains. my stomach hurts until i pass gas. lol. it's ridiculous. my boobs are sore,n night time nausea, and add a cold to the mix and that pretty much sums up 7 weeks for me.
Same thing here i am 7 weeks and the gas is horrible i mean i eat sometimes my stomach will be weird and i will feel like i have to either throw up or pass gas and i'm right in the same boat with having a cold sucks! but now my new thing is waking up around 6am and being wide awake after using bathroom and hard time going back to sleep.
This is my first pregnancy and its so weird i'm about 7 weeks according too my dr but i won't know 100% untill i get my ultra sound in a week n a half. i have had a lot of nausea but no pukeing haven't even really felt like i was going too. i feel like i'm starting too show a bit but i'm not positive. i have had a few pains n at first my boobs hurt but anymore they don't. at this point i'm so confused is that normal at all?
Im 7 weeks today and i been feeling terrible. ive been sent home from work , barely eating, just been terrible. :( the only thing keeping my spirit up is my little bun baking in my oven , lol.

I am 7 weeks pregnant with my first child. i thank god for my nausea & dry heaves but i do wish it would end soon.. i hope i'm not one of those women who have morning sickness throughout their entire pregnancy!! i am always hungry but the thought of food makes me what to vomit! i love bread.. bread seems to be the only thing that doesn't make me want to throw up.
