Pregnancy Week 1

Welcome Guest!

Did you know that a pregnancy is typically 280 days long, starting from the day after the first day of your menstrual period? The first day of your last menstrual period starts 'lunar month one' of your pregnancy. It also starts the first of the fourty weeks of pregnancy! Confused about lunar months, calendar months and weeks? Your not alone! Click here to learn more.

Prenatal Care

Your very first -- and perhaps most important -- job in your new role as mom-to-be is to take excellent care of yourself. Your little one is counting on you! Stay away from alcohol, cigarettes (even second-hand), drugs, and medications (including herbal ones). If you aren't already, start taking prenatal vitamins regularly. They're chock full of just the nutrition pregnant women need, including folic acid, a vitamin that helps prevent birth defects. Folic acid is also found in green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits and juices, enriched breads and cereals, and more. Eat well to ensure 39 more weeks of growing anticipation and great health! If you haven't already done so, now is a good time to visit with your doctor or midwife so you can plan and begin your healthy journey through pregnancy.

How You Might Be Feeling

You haven't yet ovulated this month, but you may be pregnant! The typical pregnancy lasts for 280 days, or 40 weeks (also known as 10 lunar months). Your doctor starts counting that time from the day after the first day of your last known menstrual period. That means you can be considered officially pregnant right now, even though you haven't yet conceived!

Well if you really wanna know, this is what happend to me. i need help! so on sunday my husband and i took a home pregnancy test, three to be exact! and they where all positive. then the next day i went to the doctor and got a blood test done to confirm...and that was positve. the next day i went to a "acute" appointment, and i mentioned to the doctor that i had some cramps and spotting earlier that weekend, but it was light pink, no clots or anything. they gave me another urine test and it was still positive, then a pap smear and the doc said that my cervics was closed...then he did an internal ultrasound and the unthinkable happens, he said that he could find anything, meaning he didnt see a baby. so that meant i either had a miscarage he said or its just to early to see the baby yet since i have no idea when i conceived. so now i have to waite till monday to take more labs and check my hcg levels to tell if they are going up or down. so thats my story...all i ask is that i get some prayers adn some advice! thank you for reading adn i hope that your luck is better than mine and i wish you all the best, i will keep you posted if you want...just give some feed back. ashley

By week 1, does this mean the first week of your missed period or does it mean the first week after intercourse
