Unhappy Will the snot ever stop???

Ugh, Kendall has been sick since she started daycare in January! I know that it's normal & happens to everyone, but come on! I feel like the bulb syringe has become an extension of my hand.

She has a bunch of new kids in her class; when she 1st started, there was like 4 other kids and now there is about 10. I think everytime a new kid comes in the germs get spread all over again and then she also brings the germs to my parents house, so they get sick....it is a never ending cycle!

She actually starting to sound a lot better, but last week her nose started running a lot more and the coughing started getting worse. Saturday morning she woke up with her eyes crusted shut! It was so pitiful seeing her like that and even though it must be painful and awkward, she cries the entire I am trying to wipe the stuff off with a moist, warm washcloth. It's happened a few times since then, including this morning. But other than that, she acts fine; still playing, still eating, no fever. I hate seeing her like this and worry about bringing her anywhere b/c she'll get everyone else sick. Some days I wonder if the whole daycare thing is worth it!

I feel your pain. I put Kaitlyn in daycare when she was 6 months old and she got sick every 2 wks! It was crazy...but you just have to remind yourself shes building up her immune system. I was told it takes 2 yrs. We pulled her out of daycare just under the 2 yr mark due to expenses. Shes in preschool now and she gets sick maybe every 6-8 wks.

Yup, I'm right there with you. It's been a tough 9 months for us with colds plus allergies. It will get better. BTW, eyes crusted shut is usually a sign of pink eye, or else her ears or sinuses are so full of crap that there's nowhere else for it to go except out of her tear ducts (that happened to Aislinn a few months ago). Have you mentioned this to her doc?

GOod luck and hang in there!

Yes, I called the ped and with everything else that is going on, she agreed that it was not pink eye and just drainage from a bad head cold. It's so pitiful! Today her eyes weren't crusted too bad, but oh man her nose....it must run constantly while she sleeps b/c she wakes up with congealed (sorry, I know this is gross) snot all under nose and on her upper lip. It's so sad. She cries these huge boo-hoo tears while I am trying to clean up her and it's like an everyday occurence now. And the coughing.....I wish I could teach to spit out the flem instead of swallowing it.

Are there any viatmins approved for 1.5 yr olds? I was thinking if I could get some Vitamin C in her, it might help a bit.

Poor baby! I hope she gets over this soon. I don't know of any vitamins that are approved for children that young. Does she not tolerate OJ well?
