hmmm, should I be alarmed?

  • I just went to the bathroom for the first time since my appt. Now I did have an internal exam today. There was the gloppy stuff OB's use from the internal, but it was mixed with blood. Kinda' a brown color and doesn't seem to be bleeding any more. Has anyone bled from an internal exam? The exam didn't hurt at all, so this surprised me! With the placental abruption I had last pg, my OB said that any bleeding and I was supposed to call or go to labor and delivery for monitoring. Its probably just from the internal right? I'm not having any contractions or cramping. Evertt's movements have been steady and typical.

Hmm... if it weren't for your prior history, I'd say you're good to go. Since your doc said that though, I'd be a little concerned. Could you call the nurse's station at the hospital and ask, if you don't want to call your doc after hours?

Some spotting after an internal exam is normal. I wouldn't be alarmed since it was brown... which means it is old blood.

I would be as alarmed, too, but I think if it's brown like that and you're having no other symptoms, it's most likely just from the exam. Monitor for any other bleeding and call if you see anything else.

  • I haven't had any cramping and even my BH contractions are less today then they have been the last few days. I got a little more goopy stuff tinged with even lighter amounts of brown just on the TP. I wonder if it could be my plug? I never lost it with the girls, but I never dilated past a fingertip before active labor before. If the blood shows any red at all I think I'll go in just to be safe. I think I'll take it really easy tonight and hope this is the end of it!
