  • I have severe lactose intolerance, but I am just the opposite when I am pregnant. I'm having no problems with dairy this time around. I hope you find some relief soon!

    I feel your pain!!

I am lactose intollerant (became so after our 2nd daugther) and use Lactaid Milk for recipes that call for milk, but other than that I now drink Soy. Now, I actually prefer it!

Hard/aged cheese shouldn't bother you...the aging process actually eliminates the lactose in the cheese. I can eat cheese with no problem.

    Hope that helps!
Which cheeses are hard or aged? I need to pass this info to my mother.

  • I know some of the hidden terms for milk in ingredients lists are whey and casein. Try looking for a whole foods type of store. They will have a lot more options than a regular grocery store.

When I bake I use soy milk and lactose free butter so my dd can have cookies, etc.. I've also tried soy cheese - it has a different texture, but tasted the same. (I made some homemade pizza once and used soy mozzarella cheese - sounds disgusting, but it honestly tasted the very same!)
