Doing something nice for a mom who's grieving

  • 3 days ago, my friend had a baby son who was stillborn. She was 37 weeks.

I would like to do something nice for her. Unfortunitely, she's out of state so I clearly can't help with cleaning, taking care of her kids, cooking, etc.
I would like to maybe get her a little something, or do something special to memorialize the baby.

    Please help me with ideas.
I've never known anyone who has gone through something like this.

    Thank you

  • I like the idea of a spa or massage day. She will probably need some time to herself, and getting away form everything at a spa might be just the thing.

  • Oh goodness, I really can't imagine much that is more heartbreaking than that.

I think in a month or two a quick weekend visit might do more good than a little gift, but for now a hand-written heartfelt letter might do more good than anything.

If you're intent on a gift perhaps you could find a nice book -- I have one in mind about a broken shell, but I can't remember the exact title since I don't own a copy. We gave a copy to my SIL's SIL when her son was killed by a falling garage door. I'll see if I can find it. It's about putting yourself back together after a loss -- ap beautiful picture book. If I can find a listing on Amazon for it, I'll post it.

  • Can you buy her a tree or bush to plant? Some nurseries will deliver.
