  • Ds already has a preferred side when laying down and he is only 3 weeks old. Any time dh and I try to move his head to the other side he immediately moves back-even when propped by a rolled blanket. He will contort his body to put his head to the side he prefers. Any advice??

If I remember correctly- our dr recommended hanging a toy with lights or something of interest to get Nick to turn in the opposite direction. Or maybe it was for Ryan- I dunno- too many kids to remember.

There is also a pillow with a hole in the center that helps prevent flat spots. I think it's made by Boppy???

  • Are you turning him to his side, or just the head? For Josh and Brady, I tip them up on their side some and then put a small pillow underneath.

  • My son was born with a misshappened head so I did alot of theraphy & he was in correction helmets for a long time. When he was a baby I repositioned & repositioned. I hung black material on the wall I did not want him facing & made sure that the side he needed to be repositioned to was facing a window as babies are drawn to light. Repositoning was my life for a very long time. I did go to a class that was very helpful at our childrens hospital has your dr mentioned refering you to anything like that? I was told by our therapist to get banana shape head stabilizers for his car seat so I could wedge a corner under one shoulder to make his head go the direction I wanted. I was also told as he got a bit older to use a bumbo seat. Hopefully with repositioning it will correct.
