Flying with a newborn

  • I'm going to be taking Brady on a plane in a few weeks. I'm going to keep him in the front carrier. I used it today for the first time and he was snug as a bug. I was just wondering though... should I nurse him before we board, or nurse him during takeoff? Originally I thought I'd feed him right before we go, but upon further thought, I'm wondering if it might not be smarter totake him on board ready to eat.

  • I'd probably nurse him on the plane. Not only will it help him be quieter but it'll also help his little ears during take-off.

I'm so excited that you are getting away with only your little one!
Thank you brandimichelle!

  • IA, it will keep him happier if you nurse him during take off and the start of the flight. Hope you have a great time!

Thank you Valleygirl!

  • During takeoff. FYI, they pressurize the cabin when they close the doors, so start nursing him then or soon after, because that's when he'll start to experience discomfort.

Flying with a newborn couldn't be easier, honestly. I only wish my kids were still newborns for my trip to California in May.
Thank you rudolphia!

  • If he eats before the flight (as babies love to mess with good plans) just make sure you have binky. Even if he isn't a binky guy, he will start to suck to reduce the pressure.

You'll love flying with him -- so easy compared to everyone else!
Thank you Oreo!
