grammar goddesses (Oreo, Rudi? Others?)

  • I'm having trouble with the word "yet" being used at the end of a sentence.

My husband, and his entire family feel the need to use the word yet like this....

"I still have 3 more shows to watch yet."
"We still have to get gas yet."
"I have 4 more to go yet."

Now to me, there's something wrong with that-- it sounds wrong. On the other hand, this sounds ok to me...
"I haven't seen that movie yet."

I'm almost positive that this is ok---
"I've yet to see that movie."

So, can you explain which ones of these are grammatically correct and which ones arent, and why they're not? I'm guessing "I'm still.... yet" is redundant, but what else?

  • I don't like it at the end of sentences either.

  • Well, and Josh has started saying it like that. Normally when I correct grammar, I can explain why, but "That's annoying as he!!" doesn't seem to me to be a logical explanation.

I nipped "I seen" and "We seen" in the BUD while we were still dating.

I correct everyone in my family. My kids are SOUTHERN and Brooke really has a way of drawing some words out. But the one that really bugs me is using the wrong tense I seened it, I maked it.
