  • We are going to visit my uncle next week in Centereville, VA which is about 15 minutes outside of DC... I have been to DC about 3 times before while I was in elementary school and high school...

I know there are the museums and monuments and stuff.. anything outside of that that we should try to see or visit?

Is there a children's museum anywhere close? I'd love to be able to take Avery if so....

Thanks in advance for any info!

  • If the weather is decent you can go to the DC zoo. It's free to get in, you just have to pay to park.

I don't know of any children's museums around DC, I know there is one in Richmond which is about an hour and a half south from Centerville.

You can always go to the Natural History Museum. My kids usually love the animal portions. They have lots of fun animals to look at - and the dinosaurs are always fun.

Mount Vernon is a cool place to visit. The kids get kind of bored in the actual house, but it's worth it. There is lots of land to walk through so Avery can get down and run around in all the grassy areas.
Thank you Jen_C!

  • Is the zoo fun? She loves the zoo here...

    How far is Baltimore Aquarium?

Also... I have found websites for a Capital Children's Museum?

  • Thanks for posting this! We are going in a month and looking for the same info.

I hear the zoo is great too!

I loved Mt. Vernon as a kid but I was 12. It is just so peaceful and beautiful.

    Have a great trip!!
Thank you Patience!
