  • Ok, i admit I like to go to the store even if it's just for something to do, but dh is the buying type! Yesterday we went to Walmart bc we needed TP, paper plates, and a couple other things that are cheaper there than the grocery store. I don't know why, but every time we go we walk past the $5 DVD bin and look. Last night we bpought 3 dvd's, none of which were in the $5 bin

    I believe they were $7, $10 and $10. They were not on the list and I've only heard of one of them but dh decided all three were coming with us.

    Also, we went through the clearance toy section, nto intending to buy anything but Douglas found these Little Einstein conductor batons that come with a dvd. They were $3 each and we ended up with 2 of them so the kids won't fight over them (yes, this means we have 2 of the dvd's as well

    )

    I think we need to get better at sticking to the list...

    I DID talk dh into not going out to eat for lunch today though

    We had a bunch of lunchmeat that needed to get used up, so we had sandwhiches for lunch. Dh wasn't much in the mood for sandwhiches so I told him if he doesn't want them that he should come up with something else. He ate one and then decided it was good and made himself a second one

  • OMG I feel your pain. I have learned never to take my DH to the store cause I spend 2 to 3 times as much. I can say no when the kids want something but for some reason my DH is not as willing to take no for an answer

  • We went through that kind of "withdrawal" at first, too. Keep reining him in and soon he'll be seeing the benefits of resisting the impulse buys.

  • I agree impulse shopping is the worst, at least you were able to get him to eat the sandwiches. It takes work but keep at it.

  • Thanks ladies. Hopefully I will be able to get him to "see the light", those are precious dollars being spent!
