  • My grandma says this -- she is 94, raised six kids in a house with 3 bedrooms and one bathroom and is the greatest lady of all time!

If you don't want to spend money, don't go into stores!!!

She's right! I recycle all the mail order catalogs before they ever come in the house to resist temptation and I just don't go out "for a few things" anymore!! I'm finding it makes my life easier just to avoid the stores!

  • How cute it your grandma!!
    Love that!

We definitely abide by that, too. We used to go to the mall on the weekends, "just for fun." We live 5 minutes from there and it was a good way to spend an evening. But we also spent money! So we stopped going there, we shop only by lists now, and we don't go to stores for "fun" anymore.

Your grandma is a wise, wise woman!

  • AMEN to that!!!
I know when we lived in the city and were much closer to the big stores it was SO easy to just run 10 minutes down the road to the mall and spend spend spend, but now that we are at least 40 minutes from anything big its a little easier!!

  • so true! It really helps that I don't have a car (DH takes it to work) so I'm basically stranded here all day
If I had a vehicle it would be so much easier to run to the store for a few things! And we all know that a few things is rarely what ends up in the cart!
