  • If any of you with autism experience have read it, I was just wondering how accurate it is. I realize there is a huge range in the autism spectrum but there are a few things that bugged me in the book like she points out how literally Jacob thinks but then he'll say something that doesn't fit. For example, a teacher said "don't move" and Jacob didn't move or breathe until he almost passed out, but numerous times Jacob calls somebody or something stupid when you know he doesn't mean the literal meaning of stupid.

Hope that makes sense! I read the book a while back and I'm listening to it again in audio so I can't come up with any exact examples.

  • I don't really read her any more. I know my friend who has a son with Asperger's like it and felt it was good and accurate. I'll probably read it just for that perspective.
Thank you rudolphia!

  • I haven't read it either. My mom told me it was good, but it sounded so much like another book we read on here; I passed on it.
Thank you onemellogirl!

  • I read the book and enjoyed it fine but I don't have a point of reference for the autism.
Thank you MrsPook!
