Will more iron help?

  • I swear I am so tired all the time that I just can't function. I'm having break downs like crazy. Cora's non-stop whining is making me want to

I know I was tired when I was pregnant with Cora because I came home and took a nap on the couch every day after work. Will more iron help with engery/tiredness? Right now I'm taking over the counter prenatal vitamins and their iron level is a lot lower than perscription vitamins. I'm pretty sure my iron level is on the low side to begin with. Both my sister and mom have low iron as well. I guess I'm just looking for anything to help because I'm miserable and having a hard time dealing with Cora all day everyday because I'm just too tired. I need to go to bed earlier, but I have a hard time getting in bed before 10. I just want a massive coke or something.

  • i would be hesitant to add any vitimans if you are taking an over the counter-- perhaps get a prescription prenatal and see if they help? my dr gave me samples to hold me through 6 mos I think, lol. Not sure if your insurance covers-- but ours are only $4/month for the prescription...

Other then that-- I remember being in your shoes when I got pg with B... I think it's mostly from having a 1yrold

maybe try and get more exercise during the day (walks with Cora, etc) and see if that tires you out more so you can sleep earlier???

  • Thanks Kelli. I have a perscription for a prenatal vitamin, I just never got it filled because my midwife mentioned that they are all basically the same. I did look on the box and noticed it had a higher level of iron though. So I think I'll go get that filled today and start taking that one instead of my over the counter prenantal vitamins. Hopefully that will help a bit.

  • I don't know what will help, but I just wanted to wish you goodluck, I am so tired as well, and I think it is from chasing B around constantly, and cleaning up the house and everything else we do on a daily basis.

My doctor constantly tests my thyroid when pregnant, because that goes out of whack and sometimes makes me much more tired!
