My mom can't come to the delivery!

  • I just found out that the school that my mom works at and my sisters attend, had a swine flu outbreak (not a big one, but still). My mom and sisters are not showing any symptoms or anything, but the incubation period I've read can be anywhere from 3-10 days. So to be on the safe side, she can't come to the delivery on Thursday. I'm really bummed, but we think its best because its better to be safe then sorry. Babies are too vulnerable to things like that, and I don't know if I would also be because of having surgery.

  • I'm sorry to hear that...maybe she can hear everything over the phone and/or video.
Thank you Mommy2Matthias!

  • It's what's best for the baby - the idea of video and phone is a good one. Good luck! Four days to go - how exciting!
Thank you amitrat!

  • I'm sorry to hear that, LeeAnn.. but like you said, it's definitely for the best. The video/phone would be a good idea, but they almost never allow video in ORs for legal reasons. In the end it won't matter whether she was there from the first minute or not until the baby was a week old, she'll still love her grandbaby just the same!

Thank you ChandyRae!
