• I had my 36 week appointment on Friday, June 29th (it was actually my 37 wk 0 days of pregnancy). The nurse asked if I wanted the doctor to check me and I said yes. He checks me and I am still 3 cm, like the week before. Then, he has this weird look on his face. He tells me that the baby is breach. I ask what that means, and he says, "c-section." He has me do an ultrasound to confirm it. It confirms that the baby was breach, but also shows low fluid. Therefore, I go back to his office and he tells me to go home get my bags, head to the hospital, and call my husband because I will be having a c-section TODAY.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

So, I call my husband from his office, so he can head home as soon as possible. I also called my MIL, so she can get a flight in to stay with DS. Luckily, DS was with a friend and she kept him until DH could get there.
I go home and get everything together and I get my neighbor to drive me to the hospital. I get myself admitted and as I make my way upstairs to Labor & Delivery, my husband arrives. I am able to walk, so I walk upstairs. They have me change and get me hooked up to the monitors. I actually had one contraction that I could feel, but I also had about four others which I couldn’t feel. Then, I get my bloodwork done. They come and put on the stockings to help with circulation. I also have to drink this liquid to numb my stomach for the surgery. I also got my IV started, etc. DH gets scrubs and goes into the waiting room until they get me all set up in OR. We get to OR and I get my spinal done and then they insert my fetal catheter. Once, I am all set up, they go and get DH. They pinch me to make sure that I can’t feel anything on my stomach and make sure I can’t move my legs. Then, the surgery starts. DH was able to stand up and watch the baby being born. His head was under my breast with his spine going down on the left with his butt down. The doctor pulls him out and I hear him squeak. Apparently, the baby grabbed the scissors in the doctor’s hand when he went to cut the umbilical cord! LOL He was born 8lbs. 9 oz. And 21 inches long at 1:50 p.m.
They got him all cleaned up and brought him over to me, so that I could see him and give him a kiss. Then, DH went with Spencer to the nursery to get all cleaned up and “cooked.” Once they get me all sewn up and ready, they move me up to recovery. Once I can feel them touch my stomach and move my legs, I am able to go up to my room. DH comes back from the nursery to be with me while DS is being “cooked.” Once, I head upstairs, he goes back to the nursery and escorts Spencer to my room.
He had a little trouble latching on at first for nursing since he had more time out of the womb than a vaginal birth, but once he was on, it was smooth sailing. He is a pro just like his big brother.

We got home from the hospital on Monday and we are both doing very well!

• CONGRATULATIONS!! Sounds like everything went really smoothly for you once you got in. That's too cute about baby grabbing the scissors.

Oh, and wow, I don't want to imagine how big he might have been had you gone full term. What a beautiful weight and everything! Welcome back and good luck getting settled in to your new routine.

Speaking of which, how does big brother like baby?
