if you have the choice say NO to staples! I had a few stitches and butterfly tape and my scar is almost nonexistent and my baby's only 4 months old!

I didn't really notice anything different in my diet except my first meal after having my baby. I didn't drive for the first 2 weeks, no lifting anything heavy for 6 weeks, though the doc let me carry the infant carrier after about 2 weeks, when he took out my stitches.

I was up and walking the next day, it was tricky to get up the first 2 or 3 times but after that it felt great to be able to get up, move around, have a shower

The catheter wasn't a big deal. It got put in after my epi, and I hardly felt them remove it the next day.

Overall I felt rough for the first week, and a little tiny bit sore when I went to sit up, but apart from that I'd say recovery was a breeze! Just make sure you follow your doctor's instructions about heavy lifting and airing out your cut

My first child was a vbac 19 years ago and then my second child two years ago was an emergency c section. I honestly dont remember them putting in the catheter and but taking it out was a breeze. I told them after 4 hours out of the recovery room that i wanted to get up and go to the bathroom they didnt complain. As for diet it was mostly softer foods and liquids till i passed gas then i was able to eat whatever was on the diabetic menu. I wasnt allowed to drive for 4 weeks after and my doc told me i was allowed to carry either the baby in her seat and my purse, or baby in seat and diaper bag, or diaper bag and purse but not all three at once. The recovery really was not all that bad. Mostly i slept sitting up in our overstuffed chair cause i couldnt get up from a laying position very well and my husband was very diligent about not letting me get up on my own the first week after that i was able to get up on my own just had to do it slowly. Follow your doctors advice to the T and you shouldnt have any problems.

I had staples that were removed on day 4 with my 1st and my incision opened the day I got home.. so now my Dr. doule stitches and uses staples that stay in a week.. of course it's much more comfortable without the staples.. but I insist on them simply because I don't need a wound care nurse visiting for 10 weeks and then packing my wound twice a day.. which causes my healing process to last 16 weeks..
