Placenta Previa?

  • At my BIG u/s the tech said my placenta was close to my cervix so they brought in the DR to see if I needed an internal u/s to check it out. She said my placenta was 2mm away from my cervix, not over it at all, and that it would move up as my pg progresses. She said not to worry, that 95% of cases like mine move by delivery.

My OB scheduled me for a follow up u/s to check the postition in about 4.5 weeks. He said its technically called partial placenta previa, which means its close, but that he's convinced it will move up as well. He said in the worst case scenario if it doesn't move then we schedule a c-section. No big deal.

Has anyone ever had this happen and then have the placenta move up like its supposed to? Just curious. Im not worried about it but just hope that it moves so I dont have to have a c-section!

    Thanks!

  • HI

I havent had it happen to me, but have heard about it from a few friends and they both had them move upas the pregnancy progresses. I wouldn't wotty about it.

  • I had placenta previa with Marco. My placenta moved upwards during the end of the second trimester.

that yours will too. Try not to worry about it (I know it is easy to say), but as they said.. 95% of pregnant women solve this issue themselves.

  • I also had it with my pregnancy with Ava and it moved with no problem! My 20 week u/s showed my placenta partially covering the edge of my cervix. Had a repeat u/s at 30 weeks (don't know why doc insisted on waiting so long) and it had completely moved away from my cervix.

Should be no big deal for you, especially if it isn't over your cervix now!

  • I had a partial previa with my pregnancy with Gavin and as far as we know it moved on its own (I am learning of all the mistakes and lack of care that my first OB gave me). I had an u/s at 12 wks and it was almost completely covering my cervix, but had no bleeds or anything during the rest of the pg. Since I didn't get any more ultrasounds, we don't know for sure as I bled pretty bad during labour, but all turned out well no matter what.
