Under-developed placenta

  • About 6 weeks ago, my ob-gyn referred me to a high risk doctor for further screening because they suspected the placenta hasn't developed sufficiently. The new doctor said everything looks good but he's going to see me once more at 6 month mark.
I've been searching over the internet as to why this would happen and if there's anything I could/could've done to prevent it but there's no info.
Is there anyone who has knowledge about this issue?
    Thanks.
