  • Hi guys, wondered if anyone had an opinion for me. I have been reading that it can be worthwhile to have 2 inseminations 24 hrs apart after the HCG shot to ensure the timing is right? My doc only did 1 and it didn't work, for the next cycle I am wondering if I should ask to have 2. What do you think?

  • Hi Krista,

My RE said doing 2 IUI's did not increase your chances for a cycle. With having a HCG shot, you should ovulate approximately 36 hours from then. Timing a IUI to that is probably as good of chance you will have. Good luck!!

  • I had an IUI to get pg with my son and My RE was very aggressive.. so he did 2 inseminations.. 24 hours apart.. it worked..

I figure the more you have the better the odds right??

  • I had 2 insems my second go round. I didn't work, but i wasnt on any meds either. We gave it 5 tries w/o meds (nothing) then one round with just clomid (nothing), 7th try with clomid and hcg shot (nothing) THEN a very well timed clomid + hcg cycle did the trick. Its about timing, i think, not the amount of insems. It only takes one little swimmer to do the job

  • Studies show 2 IUI's over one does not increase your chances of getting pregnant.

Really IUI's are all about timing. Adding ultra sounds as well as an hcg shot can help with that.

Wishing you all the luck. I'm so sorry your IUI didn't work. I can remember like yesterday laying on my bed knowing our first IUI failed. It hurts.
