12 Maternity Swimwear Options: Feel Beautiful This Summer

Katlyn Joy | 6, June 2013

Pregnancy in the summertime can be brutal. Your own thermometer runs a bit hot now anyway, add the blistering summer heat and you may feel like you are living on the sun. Pool and beach time is a blessing for pregnant moms wishing to cool off and relax. However, you may feel a bit daunted at the task of finding the perfect swimwear now that your pregnancy figure is blooming. Here are 12 options that will let you enjoy some cooling off time in the water while avoiding the whale with a bow fashion look.

1. Multiway Swimsuit by Seraphine.

This swimsuit is all about options, and what is better than that when your figure changes from week to week. The purple suit features a v-neck and empire bust, which is sure to flatter your bust line while being supportive as well. The unique aspect of the suit is that its bodice flows down to your hips and can be tied off low and modest or higher if you'd like. The various looks mean having several suits in one.

2.Maternity Sweetheart Swimsuit by Old Navy.

This affordable number in black is a one piece that has a padded shelf bra inside the ruched bandeau top. The grip tape at the neckline will help keep the girls in place while the nylon shell will dry quickly.

3. Convertible Straps Maternity One Piece Swimsuit by Motherhood Maternity.

This suit features bright pink color blocking in the bandeau style while the bottom of the suit is in ever-flattering black. The suit is loose about the body for those who cannot stand tight spandex on the belly. The suit also features convertible or removable straps.

4. Backless Halter Swimsuit by Sierra Lane Maternity.

This halter top is backless, and has a small teal green stripe and black modestly cut bottom. The bottom ties at the hips as well for a nice embellishment.

5. Women's Maternity Two-Piece Skirt Tankini by Maternal America.

The plunging neckline ties at the neck and offers enough support and sexiness to make you feel attractive and pregnant simultaneously. The bottom features a flouncy skirt that is both flirty and functionally modest. It should work postpartum as well for most women, a big plus to your shopping dollar.

6. Foil Tankini Swim Top by Liz Lange for Target.

Jersey knit with a shelf bra -- the plus of this suit is the pattern. The ombre stripes are in shades of pink and purple with browns and blacks too for a flattering all over pattern. The neckline is a tie back halter which is flattering to most bust lines.

7. Maternity Rash Guard Swim Shirt by Mermaid Maternity.

This swim shirt is a unique player in the maternity swimwear game. This swim shirt is modest and protects you from the sun with its short sleeves and drawstring bottom. It won't float up in the water revealing more of you than you'd like and it is made to wear over your favorite swim top, sports or maternity bra. You can pair it with Mermaid's board shorts, swim shorts or swim skirts.

8. Maternity Nursing Swimwear by Prego.

Cute in pink with a brown bow over your tummy and brown bottoms, this suit allows access under the bust for nursing but it doesn't look like a nursing suit at all. You can wear it during your maternity months just as well.

9. Maternity V-Kini by Prego.

A two-piece halter suit, this one features a v-neck with ruching that is attractive and draws the eye from the tummy to the bust. For extra help, the bra is lightly padded as well. The bottom is bikini style and meant to sit under the belly. This one will work post-baby for added bonus.

10. Hardware detail Maternity Bikini Swimsuit by A Pea in the Pod.

For those who still want to rock a bikini, this little black number will do the trick. The bottoms feature side ties and are sufficiently low, looking more like a regular than maternity bikini. The top features a cool metal connector at the bust.

11. Maternity Printed Halter Swimsuit by Old Navy.

This blue print one-piece features an all over floral pattern and removable halter straps and adjustable buckles. To keep everything in place, adhesive tape is inside. Power mesh lining at the tummy and foam padded cups are extras you'd expect to pay more for. The neckline is sweetheart styled with a twist front bodice.

12.Maternity Swimsuit with Draped Top by Asos.

Available in navy or black this suit will take you from early pregnancy to postpartum with style and comfort. The neckline is bandeau and the straps are removable. The bottom is modestly full cut.
