Perrigo Acetaminophen Infant Suspension Liquid RecalledElizabeth Keefe | 2, November 2013
Due to a possible defect with the syringe provided, Perrigo is voluntarily recalling its Acetaminophen Infant Suspension Liquid in a nationwide recall. Perrigo Acetaminophen Infant Suspension Liquid's syringe may not have the dosage markings present. This means that parents will not be able to determine if the dosage they are giving their baby is correct.
In a statement, Perrigo's Chairman, President and CEO Joseph C. Papa states, "There are no issues or concerns with respect to the safety or efficacy of the product, only the potential that the oral dosing device in a relatively small number of packages could be unmarked."
What should parents do?
Parents that have purchased this product should check to make sure the syringe has the correct dosage markings. The syringe should have a white or yellow plunger with the following markings:
- 1.25 mL
- 2.5 mL
- 3.75 mL
- 5 mL
If the syringe has these specific dosage markings, you parents can continue to use the product and follow instructions for dosage on the package label. If it does not, do not use the product, and call Perrigo toll free at 1-800-719-9260 for further instructions. If you believe your infant or child has experienced any adverse reactions to this product, please contact your doctor for advice immediately.
